A new station with raised platforms between the original and temporary was built in 2009 for the North-South Linkage Project. The old station is currently being cleared for the preparation of its restoration although its unknown if the unfinished Paco Mall beside it will the demolished.

Informations[]

  • The original masterplan of Daniel Burnham shows that the Paco station was planned to be erected on what is now the Barangay 848 where the Philippine Bible Society now stands.
  • Other than having a same appearance with the Pennsylvania station in New York, the reason for such a large station building was being the original starting point of Southern services (Bicol Express etc).
  • The station that was erected around 2007 to 2009 was sometimes called Paco-Quirino station.
  • The area surrounding the station and the tracks is flood-prone, even in the early years of its existence.
