The Naic line is a defunct line of the Manila Railroad Company.

History[]

Together with the Manila Belt Line from Santa Mesa to Paco via Pandacan, the first section from Paco to Binakayan was opened on March 25, 1908 and Binakayan to Noveleta (including Caridad on the Cavite short line) on May 11, 1908.

The remaining section from Tanza to Naic was opened in October 20, 1911.

Information[]

The Naic line runs from Paco to Naic, Cavite.  At Noveleta station, another spur line leads to Cavite City.

Abandonment[]

The line ceased operations and abandoned in 1936, the tracks, including sidings between Las Pinas and Naic stations were removed in 1937 and in 1938, the remaing portion up to Paco was finally dismantled.

Remnants[]

Although the tracks were lifted after abandonment, some bridges were retained to be reused by residents, two of them were located at Tanza, Cavite, the bridge at Brgy. Halayhay still exists although the tracks are gone.

The bridge over the Parañaque River of the Ninoy Aquino Avenue and the road itself was the former right of way.

Trivia[]

  • If the line still exists today, it will be connected with the LRT Line 1 and MRT-3 at Taft Avenue station.
