The Metro South Commuter (MSC) is the commuter service of PNR in the Main Line South from Tutuban to Alabang, Muntinlupa and Calamba City, Laguna.

History[]

The first commuter service on the Main Line South was first operated in April 6, 1970, called as the "Metro Manila Commuter Service", it started at Manila North Harbor with stops at Tutuban, Blumentritt, Santa Mesa, Paco, Culi-Culi (Pasay Road today), Philippine American Embroidery, Sucat, Alabang and ending in Biñan, Laguna.

In November 30, 1972, President Ferdinand Marcos and First Lady Imelda Marcos led the inauguration of the commuter service between Tutuban and San Pedro, Laguna.

The Carmona branch line was opened in 1973 as part of the expansion of the Commuter Service, it was further expanded to Angeles in the Main Line North, Guadalupe, and College.

Commuter trains to Manila North Harbor

In 1990, the Commuter service was improved, during that time, it was called Metro Trak, later renamed to Metro Tren. It was extended to Calamba on April 2, 1990, unlike today, it operates from 6:00 to 9:00 in the morning and 5:00 to 7:00 in the evening
